John is a visionary! We called A1 Masonry to tackle crumbled pavement, brick and stonework at our 95+ year old house. In less than three weeks, our yard was transformed....John is a visionary! We called A1 Masonry to tackle crumbled pavement, brick and stonework at our 95+ year old house. In less than three weeks, our yard was transformed. Stairs and walkways were replaced with beautiful pavers, trash and detritus were cleared away, ground was leveled, and it's now a lovely place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Additionally, they dug a trench along the side of the house, waterproofed the outside wall and installed a French drain. We'll never have to worry about water leaking into the basement again. They moved back the front wall, built a new wall and pillars on both sides, corrected the level of the driveway so all water runs correctly into the drains they installed. They installed a nice brick border, installed a lovely flower bed and then tarmac on the driveway. The team arrived on time, worked hard every day and communicated well throughout the project. The team were clean, power washing the road several times to make sure there was almost no trace when they were finished. The quality of the work was second to none and the price was very reasonable. Having lived in DC for 10 years, it feels like every time I hire a contractor,...I would recommend A1 Masonry Contractors for your repointing needs in the DC area! Having lived in DC for 10 years, it feels like every time I hire a contractor, I run into communication issues and getting my projects prioritized and finished quickly. However, A1 Masonry called me minutes after submitting a request online for a quote and came to give us an estimate within a few days- they were extremely professional and on-time! Once we booked them for the job, they came the next day and took care of our repointing/tuckpointing project. The damage to our brick ended up being more extensive than expected, so while our original quote was almost doubled by the end of the job, I was thankful for the transparency of how to appropriately fix the damage and prompt communication of the change in the job that needed to be done. I am pleased with the prompt service we received, professionalism, and prioritization of our project.View Full Review

I...I found A1 Masonry Contractors through these reviews, and I'm writing one now because I appreciate that they led me to this company. We needed a lot of masonry work. I met with three companies and John sounded most professional. He offered great ideas to simplify the work and cost, and had knowledgeable suggestions about materials and colors. In addition I saw the company several times in my neighborhood the past few years i also checked his work online, and he showed me his larger gallery of very beautiful masonry work completed at other homes. His team was incredible. They worked long days, cleaned up at night, and returned early the next morning to continue. Their work was precise and beautiful. We were so pleased that toward the end we added another project. All the jobs together took half the time we expected and we now have beautiful stonework around the property. We have more projects for the future as we get to them, and will definitely turn to A1 Masonry Contractors when we're ready.
